Safety is designed into every interaction. AskMD tells you it uses AI and that AI can make mistakes, and you acknowledge that when you sign up. Clinical answers include a sources chip with citations you can open and review, so you can see where guidance came from and bring it to your care team. If your question suggests a potential emergency, AskMD stops the routine conversation and directs you to call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.

Behind the scenes, AskMD runs on enterprise-grade cloud infrastructure through our collaboration with Amazon Web Services, with clinical safety and content policies enforced on every interaction and human clinical oversight built into how the experience is designed and maintained. Your records, conversations, and personal information are used only to generate your own answers and insights, under the protections in the AskMD health data privacy notice.

AskMD runs on a proprietary multi-model architecture that applies the right model to each task, governed by clinical standards, safety controls, and escalation pathways on every interaction. And what trains those models is clinical knowledge, not your personal data: the methodology traces to Dr. Lawrence Weed’s problem-oriented medical record, acquired with PKC Corporation in 2012, while your personal health information is never used for model training.
