How does Sharecare support rural health transformation? 

Sharecare is transforming rural health one encounter at a time. In June 2026, the Georgia Department of Community Health selected Sharecare as one of the first subgrantees of the GREAT Health Program, Georgia’s initiative to improve health outcomes, increase access to care, strengthen rural healthcare systems, and support long-term financial sustainability across rural Georgia, within a program supported by CMS through the Rural Health Transformation Program. 

Sharecare starts from real presence in the state: already serving people across Georgia’s Medicaid, Medicare Advantage, state and local government, and commercial populations registered on Sharecare’s health and well-being platform. DCH selected Sharecare to expand efforts that encourage preventive care, healthy lifestyles, and greater engagement in personal health across rural communities. 

The centerpiece is AskMD, deployed to help rural Georgians better understand symptoms and health concerns, confirm coverage eligibility, identify available benefits and care options, access in-network providers and community resources, and take earlier preventive action. Capabilities include personalized health guidance, insurance-aware navigation with real-time eligibility verification, connections to in-network providers and virtual care services, trusted evidence-based health education, portable health summaries that reduce repetitive paperwork, engagement tools for preventive care, and enterprise-grade privacy and security protections. 

The design principle holds throughout: combining conversational AI with insurance-aware navigation, AskMD helps people move from questions to appropriate next steps while augmenting, not replacing, the role of licensed clinicians.
